    Event Summary
Summary reproduced with permission from NI Tech Blog

There was an excellent turn out to Mobile Monday Belfast with the Black Box Cafe packed to capacity.

First up Martin Robinson from Invest NI's Global Starts Team gave an overview of the opportunities on offer within INI and also some hints and tips to help in the application process.

Next up, Philip Wilson, CEO & Founder of Match Media spoke of his own personal road to funding...with lots of entertaining do's and don'ts & antedotes along the way.  Most memorable being  when an investor asks "is your idea like a raspberry?" politely reply "yes" but read the warning signs they may not be your ideal mobile investor

Then Mike Bowman gave an overview on the Euopean Investment Market and the E-Synergy opportunities available locally.  Additionally Mike gave an insight that due to some very attractive tax benefits angel investing in France is very popular at the moment so it is well worth exploring all options when seeking investment.

And last but not least, David Kirk, a Private Investor originally from Northern Ireland, but now resident in Silicon Valley gave his views on the investment ecosystem & opportunities here.

  • Mobile User Experience

Thank you to all 65 participants of our event on MEX and to our speakers from Mozilla Mobile (Christian Sejersen) and Cibenix (Andrew Robertson) last Monday 6 April. Great stories = 'edutaining' presentations!
User experience: to date, the mobile industry has typically employed it to describe the graphical user interface (UI) of an application or device. However, despite the increasing frequency with which it is cited by the mobile business, user experience is something rather more complex than the way a product looks (more…).

On 18 March the MEX (Mobile User Experience Forum) held a 1-day competition on Twitter challenging industry pioneers to come up with the best definition of ‘mobile user experience’ => The selected entry was: “Mobile user experience: Encompasses every interaction and emotion a person has with their mobile device in their daily lives.”

  • "Show me your App ..." Demo Night

The hottest topic at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona was surely Apps!

So on Monday 23 March we staged our first-ever "Show me your App..." pure demo night (strictly no PPT slides) at Queen's University (courtesy of Dr. David Newman, thank you!). 50 people turned up, curious to discover what NI developers had brought to market, and the crowd was wowed by EyeSpyFX, GAAstats, TotalMobile but also iPhone apps (yes, we can!) by Craic Design, Locle and Blue Pilot Software (details on Matt's blog). As our guest demonstrator from Dublin (just-in-time courtesy of Dublin's traffic), Rory MacHale also showed how Ammeon Commune & Studio allow anyone to create and manage their own mobile TV channel(s) and other subscribers to view them on their mobile device.
